MaiSaha ("we," "us," or "our") operates the MaiSaha mobile application — a compassionate companion designed to support mothers through the entire maternal journey, from conception through postpartum. We are committed to protecting your personal information and being transparent about the data we collect and how we use it.

This Privacy Policy applies to your use of the MaiSaha app (available on iOS and Android), our website at maisaha.com, and any related services we offer (collectively, the "Services"). By using our Services, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, information collected automatically through your use of the app, and in some cases, information from third-party sources.

Information you provide directly:

  • Account information such as your name, email address, and password when you register
  • Maternal health information including your due date, pregnancy stage, postpartum status, and health goals you choose to share
  • Audio diary recordings and journal entries you create within the app
  • Forum posts, comments, and community contributions you make publicly or anonymously
  • Conversations with the Saha Companion AI feature
  • Purchase and order information when you use the Saha Store
  • Feedback, support requests, and communications you send to us

Information collected automatically:

  • Device information including device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers
  • Usage data such as features you use, pages you visit, and how you interact with the app
  • Log data including IP address, app version, time and date of access, and crash reports
  • Push notification interaction data (whether you open or dismiss notifications)

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide, improve, and personalise the MaiSaha experience. Specifically, we use your information to:

  • Create and manage your account and deliver the Services you request
  • Personalise your experience — surfacing content, tips, and guidance relevant to your exact stage of the maternal journey
  • Power the Saha Companion AI feature to provide empathetic, context-aware responses
  • Enable the audio diary and journal features, storing your entries securely
  • Facilitate forum participation, including anonymous posting where you choose
  • Process purchases through the Saha Store and fulfil your orders
  • Send you relevant notifications, reminders, and updates (you control these in Settings)
  • Surface mental health resources and emergency support when appropriate safety signals are detected
  • Respond to your support requests and communicate with you
  • Analyse usage patterns to improve the app and develop new features
  • Comply with our legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service

💡 Personalisation note: The more you share about your journey, the more Saha can personalise its support. You are always in control of what you share and can adjust your profile at any time.

Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We share your information only in the limited circumstances described below:

With your consent: When you choose to post publicly in the Forum, that content is visible to other members. Anonymous posts are not linked to your identity in the community view.

Service providers: We work with carefully selected third-party vendors who help us operate the app — such as cloud hosting, analytics, and customer support tools. These providers are contractually bound to use your data only to provide services to us and not for their own purposes.

Safety and legal requirements: We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to:

  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, or legal processes
  • Protect the rights, property, or safety of MaiSaha, our users, or others
  • Respond to lawful requests from public authorities

Business transfers: If MaiSaha is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred. We will notify you of any such change and your options.

🔒 We will never sell your health data to advertisers, insurance companies, data brokers, or any other third party for commercial purposes.

Data Security

We take the security of your information seriously — especially given the sensitive and deeply personal nature of maternal health data. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit using TLS (Transport Layer Security)
  • Encryption of sensitive data at rest, including health information and audio diary recordings
  • Access controls limiting which of our team members can access personal data
  • Regular security assessments and penetration testing
  • Secure password hashing — we never store your password in plain text

While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic storage or internet transmission is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your MaiSaha account and to contact us immediately at kiranmaisaha@gmail.com if you suspect any unauthorised access.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you Services. The specific retention periods are:

  • Account data: Retained while your account is active, and for up to 30 days after deletion to allow for account recovery
  • Audio diaries and journal entries: Retained until you delete them or close your account
  • Forum posts: Public posts may be retained in anonymised form even after account deletion to preserve community context
  • Transaction records: Retained for 7 years to comply with financial and tax regulations
  • Usage and analytics data: Retained in aggregated, anonymised form for up to 3 years

When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, unless we are required to retain it for legal or compliance reasons.

Your Rights & Choices

You have meaningful control over your personal information. Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal retention requirements)
  • Data portability: Receive a copy of your data in a machine-readable format
  • Objection: Object to certain processing activities, including direct marketing
  • Restriction: Ask us to restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances
  • Withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time

📱 In-app controls: You can delete individual audio diary entries, manage notification preferences, control your forum visibility, and export your data directly from the app Settings menu.

Children's Privacy

MaiSaha is designed for expectant and new mothers and is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at kiranmaisaha@gmail.com and we will promptly delete the information.

Third-Party Services

The MaiSaha app may contain links to third-party websites or integrate with third-party services such as:

  • Apple App Store and Google Play Store for app distribution
  • Payment processors for Saha Store transactions (we do not store your full card details)
  • Analytics providers to help us understand app usage (data is anonymised and aggregated)
  • Cloud infrastructure providers for secure data storage and processing

These third parties have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external services. When we share data with service providers, we do so under contractual protections that limit their use of your information.

International Data Transfers

MaiSaha operates globally and your information may be processed in countries other than the one in which you reside, including countries that may have different data protection laws than your home country.

Where we transfer personal data internationally, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including standard contractual clauses approved by relevant data protection authorities. If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or other regions with specific data transfer restrictions, we comply with applicable requirements for cross-border data transfers.

  • Send you an in-app notification and, where appropriate, an email
